What is a Line Chart?
A line chart connects data points with lines, making it ideal for visualizing trends, time series, and continuous data. It clearly shows how values change over time or across ordered categories.
How to Create a Line Chart
- Enter your data in the table — one column per data series, one row per category or time point.
- Add column headers as series names and row labels as categories or dates.
- Customize titles, colors, and axis labels.
- Click Draw to generate your chart.
- Download as PNG or print directly.
Numeric vs Categorical X-Axis
Use the X-Axis Type selector to switch between two modes:
- Categorical — the default. Row labels are treated as text categories, evenly spaced on the X-axis.
- Numeric — the first column of your data is used as the actual X values. Ideal for time series with uneven intervals or true XY line charts.
X-Axis Range
When using Numeric X-Axis mode, you can set the minimum value, maximum value, and tick interval for the X-axis to control exactly what range is displayed.

2D vs 3D Line Charts
